#19: Welcoming the New Year with Goals & Dreams

Well friends, we made it through 2014!

January 1st is always a time of reflection, remembrance, and looking back over an entire year’s worth of experience and memory. This past year was a pretty exciting one for me.

I celebrated my first anniversary of marriage with my very best friend. This first year together has been so much fun, and our love has grown deeper for each other and for God than it ever was before. God has been so good to us in every way. All the glory goes to Him for our flourishing marriage, our home, family, friends, and everything he’s provided for us; which is all far more than we ever deserve.

Artistically, 2014 was a truly wonderful year for me. I completed school, graduating with my Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design & Marketing and celebrated 2 years working as an in-house designer for an internationally renowned company. Most importantly though, at the end of the summer I rediscovered who I truly am as an artist. I rekindled the flame I’ve always had for my roots as an illustrator and discovered an entirely new field: hand lettering.

As well, I’ve taken on more freelance work than I ever had before, and am working with some really cool people coming into this new year.

I launched this blog, something I never thought I’d do, refined and established my own website, and I opened up a shop on Etsy.

There are so many things that have come to pass, and so many more I wish to do.

I pray that 2015 will be even better than 2014, and that God can use me to love on people more and more with each passing day.

Everyone I guess expects to hear New Year’s Resolutions in such a blog post as this, but I instead will strive for New Year’s Goals & Dreams.

In the Bible, Proverbs 27:1 says “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not now what a day may bring.” I don’t know what any day may bring from 2015, but I do know what I hope and pray to achieve, do, and seek.

With that, I give you my goals for the New Year. Be on the lookout for more artwork, more product, and more exciting projects coming from me in this beautiful fresh slate of a new year!

My Goals:

1.) Seek to know God more and more everyday and love others as He has loved me.

2.) Achieve full time status as a freelancer & entrepreneur.

3.) Expand my Etsy store and begin selling a larger and wider array of lovingly made art in various forms.

4.) Begin teaching what I know in the form of value-based online courses

Scripture to begin the new year on:

  •  “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” – Ecclesiastes 3:1
  • “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”  Isaiah 43:18-19
  • “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.”  Proverbs 16:9

What are your goals for the year on the dawn of this new beginning?
